Viral Dirty Cabbage
Serves: 6
Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef (90/10)
2 Italian sausages, cut into links (optional)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium head green cabbage, chopped (about 8 cups)
1 red bell pepper, diced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp Cajun seasoning
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt (or to taste)
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ cup beef broth
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
Green onions, for garnish
Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and sausage and cook until browned. Drain any excess grease.
Stir in the onion and bell pepper. Cook for 4–5 minutes until softened, then add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
Mix in the tomato paste, smoked paprika, Cajun seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Add the chopped cabbage and stir until coated in the seasoning mixture.
Pour in the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.
Remove the lid and cook for another 3–5 minutes to allow any excess liquid to evaporate.
Sprinkle with cheddar cheese, cover just until melted, and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
